Worker's Day 2023: Kano's incoming governor promises to eradicate employment fraud
Abba Kabir Yusuf, the candidate for governor of Kano State, has committed to abolish job squatting in the state's civil service.
This was said by the Governor-elect in a message made in honor of the state's workers on May Day and released by his chief press secretary, Sanusi Bature.
In order to restore the lost luster of the service, the newly elected governor stated that his administration will review all the shady hiring practices used by the departing administration and ensure that a trustworthy hiring procedure is in place for all residents who meet the necessary criteria to compete.
He stated, "On the current job racketeering and nepotism in staff recruitment which the outgoing government is recklessly conducting, we shall not allow the civil service to be misguided by corruption and nepotism, we must check the job racketeering in Kano state as a priority to restore the lost glory of the service,"
The upcoming New Nigerian People's Party (NNPP) administration would improve the welfare of state employees, including early payment of salaries and pensions, the governor-elect informed the state public officials.
"Workers are essential to ensuring effective government in any democratic system, thus they should be praised for their selfless service to humanity.
Despite the neglect of the outgoing administration, Kano workers in the State Civil Service and the private sector have shown audacity in maintaining high standards of productivity and service delivery despite their declining purchasing power.
