Breaking: Supreme Court Dismissed PDP's Appeal, Justify Governor Hycinth Alia's Election.
Additionally, the election of the priest-turned-politician was upheld by the supreme court.
Following the withdrawal of an appeal by Sebastian Hon., the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) attorney representing Titus Uba, the top court rendered its decision.
Uba has contested Alia's All Progressives Congress (APC) victory.
But when Alia was declared the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Election Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, Abuja, upheld his victory as Benue's governor.
Since the petition dealt with matters before to elections, the Court of Appeal had declared that it lacked jurisdiction to consider it.
The court decided that Uba ought to have taken Sam Ode, the deputy governor, to court over the forgery claim.
It further declared that Uba had not shown beyond a reasonable doubt the forgery charges against Ode.
